Counter that threat!!

Haxorus might be outspeeding your salamence after setup if you switch in. Damage calculator doesn't show any change to stats, so I can't see it. Anyway, this'll stop it:
Gardevoir @ gardevoirite
Modest
Trace -> pixilate
252 sp. Atk & spd, 4 def
Hyper voice, payshock, shadow ball, grass knot

It'll take at least 3 fire blasts to take her out, but it has not 100 accuracy. Her hyper voice will hit, and does enough to kill 2 of those salamences in one hit.

I was wondering where the party went... Nice Mence btw
porygon2.gif

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave

After paralyzing, P2 outspeeds and comfortably handle whatever Mega Gardevoir can dish out and heal away any damage taken.

Try and rely less on Megas, Mystic

I will once you guys stop useing default sets with any change being a move at best:
Lucario @ life orb
Modest
Inner focus
252 sp. Atk & spd, 4 hp
Aura sphere, dragon pulse, flash cannon, shadow ball

If it looks like a default set, it's pure chance. I rarely look at smogen sets. The best p2 can do is tri attack chipping away 1/5 of lucario's hp per hit while aura sphere cuts its in half in one hit.

@MysticSniper, I only say that because like this, you force yourself to rely on the same pokes over and over, like Lucario; how many Lucario All-Out Attacker Lucario builds have you used now? We got 700+ choices every time someone drops a counter, no need to play in a box, diversify a little. Think of how you use your IV's, too, I keep posting walls because I keep seeing All-Out Attacker builds, but this is what I meant when I joined the post with, "no defense?" I'm not dropping custom sets because I don't see a need to, and I have yet to be forced to.

Just shows how good lucario is I guess. Walls just don't fit my playstyle, so thats why you see me use so many attackers. That abamasnow from earlier would beat that milotic, but here's something else:
Jolteon @ enigma berry
Modest
Volt absorb
252 sp. Atk & spd, 4 hp
Thunderbolt, hidden power ice, shadow ball, signal beam.

  • #86
That Milotic is completely capable of stalling that Jolteon and healing away all the HP lost over and over again keeping that Jolteon build from ever being a solid check to him. If you wanted to break through him with that, run Choice Specs for some wall breaking potential. At least it'd be enough to handle Assault Vest Milo variants with no SpD investment.

252+ SpA Jolteon Thunderbolt vs. 236 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Milotic: 158-188 (40.5 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

VERSUS

252+ SpA Choice Specs Jolteon Thunderbolt vs. 236 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Milotic: 236-282 (60.5 - 72.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Milo can't heal enough to survive Choice Spec variants of this Jolteon.

To handle Jolteon:
lanturn.gif

Lanturn @ Assault Vest
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 144 SpD / 112 Spe
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump

I hate dealing with these things...

252+ SpA Lanturn Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Jolteon: 144-171 (53.1 - 63%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Walls Jolteon completely.

Hmmm... I like this build, might build one of these...

Flygon @assault vest

Levitate

U turn
Dragon claw
Earthquake
Stone edge/steel wing if unable to learn stone edge.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Atk / 52 SpD
Brave Nature

- Thunder Wave / Knock Off / Protect

Resists everything he's got and Gyro Ball can OHKO with Stealth Rock support.

Blaziken @ enigma berry
Modest
Speed boost
252 sp. Atk & spd, 4 hp
Heat wave, focus blast, solar beam, sunny day

Yes, a special setup for blaziken. Was really hard to do because there's almost no special moves in its movepool. Heat wave destroys ferrothorn safely without sunny day.

Personally instead of a full Special set, a mixed set would have worked a lot better for Blaziken. Just personal opinion though.

Anyways, to answer that I'll bring in the Star of the show

starmie.gif

Starmie @Life Orb
Analytic
Calm Nature
252 Sp. Atk, 252 Sp. Def, 4 Spe.
-Rapid Spin
-Hydro Pump
-Psychic
-Ice Beam

While it is true that Blaziken can outspeed and hit Starmie with a Solarbeam, that's only a 2HKO, assuming the Sun is out. Starmie can OHKO Blaziken with Hydro Pump, but knowing how unreliable that would be under the sun is the reason why I would go with Psychic, which also OHKO's Blaziken. Rapid Spin is for covering entry hazards such as Spikes or Stealth Rocks, and Ice Beam is the main answer to threatening offensive Grass Types.

Night slash would've been excelent against that, but oh well.
Galvantula @ choice specs
Modest
Swarm
252 sp. Atk & spd, 4 hp
Electro ball, bug buzz, giga drain, hidden power ice

I usually don't use choice items, but I might as well do one here. Bug buzz is enough to ko starmie, and galvantula outspeeds it. Electro ball to counter most slower mons.

Pretty nice Galvantula set. I'm gonna have to bust out my Pokken main for this one :p

Ninetales @ enigma berry
Modest
Flash fire
252 sp. Atk & spd, 4 sp. Def
Heat wave, shadow ball, energy ball, confuse ray

Nintales's speed is roughly 15 higher than that chandalure, so it gets the 2hko before clure can.

Not bad. Why do you go with Enigma Berry though? I feel like Heat Rock would be more useful in your purpose because of the Sun. Welp, time to make it rain.

manaphy.gif

Manaphy @Leftovers
Hydration
Timid Nature
4 Def, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Spe.
-Rain Dance
-Tail Glow
-Scald
-Psychic

Manaphy can outspeed your Ninetales to oblivion, and since Energy Ball is a 2HKO, being able to move faster is a key thing for this matchup. Manaphy can use one turn to set up the rain, then it can immediately go for that big Scald to OHKO Ninetales. And if I wanted to be more rude, I could switch out Scald for Hydro Pump, since it'll be a guaranteed hit in the Rain. Why Leftovers over Damp Rock? Well when I typically use Manaphy I use it on teams where it's the only thing that benefits from the Rain, so there's no need to extend the period of Rain for only one Pokemon, and the getting a 1/16 HP recovery is probably the best thing for Manaphy, since Hydration protects it from status problems in the Rain :p

Enigma instead of heat rock because it's not useing sun. Heat rock would have no effect, but enigma protects it from a weakness hit once, which buys it a turn in most situations. I'll let someone else take a stab at it.

I think a KO Special Wall might have done better tbh or some thing that resists like a Goodra.

tentacruel.gif

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze

It had Flash Fire and Mana doesn't learn Hydro Pump.
cradily.gif

Cradily @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Recover
- Giga Drain
- Rock Slide

Walls him comfortably at +3 and gets the 2 hit switching in for the boost.

Also is that how Enigma works now? In 4th Gen, you'd take the damage and then get healed, I remember deciding it was unreliable back then.

  • #98
I'm not entirely sure myself. Never had one because it's an event item.

  • #99
Not really anymore, anyone with the time and the dedication can steal one from PGL now, but I probably would still pass it up, there are more valuable items, or more so items I prefer more like Choice Items and the Red Card.

  • #100
Not everyone can use the pgl, though.
