Emulators or no?

What's your stance on emulators for old games? Do you think it's understandable in some cases or is it flat out bad in all?
Totally understandable and bad at the same time. I always use emulators but I'm not proud of it. If I had the resources I'd buy the console but sadly, I don't so I have to resort to such measures.

Yeah, and many of the old consoles are out of production anyway.....I mean, they don't make SNES systems anymore, right? xD

um, you don't really buy emulators. And meh, the thing is that while you can get old consoles from ebay, the same may not hold true for some of the many retro games that were out there that you may be interested in (honestly, it's to the extent there are some I've never even heard of).

lol funny you should bring up DS emulators. Even if people decide to go for those, there's yet to be a fully functional DS emulator out there that can easily run in full speed like GBA, SNES, NES, etc. emuilators out there

I know. but still it is kinda lik a regular emulator. sorry if i buged anyone.

lol makes you wonder when there'll be a good 3DS emulator. Oh wait, it isn't as hackable as the DS :p

Actually the 3DS is hackable (actually got hacked) but it will be like the PS3, only with old firmwares.

Also, I bet the console is actually fully hacked, but in private. (Some hackers do that job but keep it on secret)

not original they don't make them anymore but there are many rip-offs that play SNES games on the market. I'd rather choose a Emulator.

1. No 3DS emulator invented
2. That will ruin an wonderful console you know? With the coming release of R4 cards with 3DS game support will be a big hurt to the console.
I am afraid of what will happen to the process of creating and publishing games of the 3DS when the R4 cards is released and becomes widespread/well known it will carry piracy to another level.

R4 card is well known in my country, but it only works for DS games. Well' it's still a piracy.

I have the DS2 one, but I really don't using it. The idea of watching anime in the 3DS and play some homebrew was the ideal thing for do.

Whenever I can I support the developers by buying the games. When a game is rare and expensive (like Earthbound) I play it on emulator... Or when I just don't have money and really want to play some game. And only to see how gameplay works so I know should I buy the game or not :p

Emulation's OK for pre-fifth-gen consoles. I dislike Virtual Console. It's milking in my opinion.

  • #39
i like virtual console becaouse it is a bunch of the old games on a portable console. and then i can have them all most all the time in stead of having to go home and start up the old console. any way i like virtual console jut wish it had a couple gba games.

There is one emulator that i think is ok. that is MAME. multiple arcade machine emulator. and why i think that it is ok is that it is for arcade machines not consoles.
