Fun fact, Sonic 1's special stages can be made smoother, by get this, deleting 1 line of code. Under the SS_ShowLayout routine, simply get rid of:
Code: 
        andi.b    #$FC,d0
That's all there is to it. Supposedly this single line acts as a limiter.
And now, it runs as it would in the 2013 mobile remake of Sonic 1.

Oh and by the way, I made the final release of Ray in Sonic 1 for the Sonic Hacking Contest. Give it a shot, and try out some hacks and mods from other hackers. I'd recommend "I Made You a Salad" by VAdaPEGA.
